A family that lived in peace\u00a0
And believed in human right<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She knew they were in her town\u00a0
Trump\u2018s reckless I.C.Enforcement\u00a0
Chasing the immigrants down\u00a0
And activists who were defiant\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One early January morning\u00a0
She was driving down a road\u00a0
Her instinct might have given a warning\u00a0
She\u2019s distracted by a poem she wrote\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A dark cloud\u2018s looming in the sky
Covering the sunshine now
And soon it would occupy\u00a0
Her whole life somehow\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She\u2019s carefully driving afar
As ICE agents came by
And asked to get off the car\u00a0
She\u2018s trying to defy<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She said \u201cit\u2018s fine dude
Just show me your face\u201d
She really was not rude
But courageous and brave\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Now an ICE man pulled his gun
Although there was no need\u00a0
Terrified she reversed like in a run
In fact a panic proceed\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Her car did not strike someone
But an ICE agent fired three shots\u00a0
That shouldn\u2019t happen to anyone\u00a0\u00a0
And isn\u2019t justified in this plot\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She was only thirty-seven years old
A gifted poet compassionate and proud
But they killed her ICE cold
As she was on her route<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ren\u00e9e N. Good was one of us
LGBTIQ like our dear friends\u00a0
I don\u2019t want to make a fuss\u00a0
But think of her for a few moments\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Civil rights don\u2019t mean anything\u00a0
To those who shoot people ICE cold
And I\u2018m worried by such a thing\u00a0
How will these times unfold\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This makes me feel humble
This makes me feel low
Wherever I ramble\u00a0
Wherever I go<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When fear and violence does increase\u00a0
Ren\u00e9e Good\u2018s life is a reminder\u00a0
Of personal freedom love and peace\u00a0
And that this world needs to get kinder<\/p>\n\n\n\n
